I'm so ready to go home!

Nearly two weeks with Dominic. Would love to say that the kinks are out we are sleeping all night and everything is right as rain. We have been oh so lucky to have my mother, Lala here helping us. She has been cleaning, doing laundry, cooking (wonderful cooking) and calming unsure nerves after long nights with a chatty babe. Most importantly she helped to ease little Autumn in the newness of baby brother. The last few days she has been sleeping with our big girl and thankfully that means that we don't have to worry about her getting up alone and wandering around looking for us...Autumn not Mom. With most of the town sick right after we came home from the hospital the house was pretty quiet. People are so respectful to keep away from a new babe. Unfortunately the bug hit close to home and Dana and I were coughing messes for Lala, Autumn and Dominic. Mamma Jo was hit too so spent the week up the street waiting to get better to come and visit. Thankfully Autumn and Dominic did not get the bug, nor did Lala the strong..."It takes a lot to get this old horse down" were her words to Dana as he watched her prepare her nightly "elixir" to avoid whatever we had. There is nothing that anyone tells you that really prepares you for baby two. At least not to me. Dominic is the polar opposite of Autumn and we are seeing this at only 11 days old. Poor Little Buddy has a butt rash that would make a grown man cry (and makes all of us flinch while changing him) and he talks non-stop.  He seems to be a bit restless but after a call to the OB nurse (yes I am not afraid to say we call the baby authorities oh yes we do) all seems to be just fine. He has another appointment on Monday to make sure he is gaining weight and there we can show our list of concerns...a list that really truly makes us look like first timers. I don't remember being this nervous, concerned, scared, insecure, terrified or emotional (good grief emotional!) with Autumn. I'm sure that I was and maybe my memory lapse is Gods way of protecting our kind...or maybe I was and I just didn't admit it because I'm a bad ass you know ;).

So, our first night alone, without our parents, is tonight. So far we are doing excellent...Autumn is at Grammies and Dom is sleeping on Dana. We rock! Seriously we shall see how we all fair the evening. Most likely Dana and Autumn will camp out in her bed and Dom and I will get the king. After all a newborn and the mama need all that space yes?!  Here we go! (feel free to give me cropping advice on these dang pictures...grrrr!)
