Autumn shows Elora her view...Our dancing baby giving the stare down,
The girls having a bath together, First friends Autumn was 3 months and Elora just weeks old.
Yesterday we had some friends over and it was a great time! A classmate from Cortiva (yay Ryan!) and the Padillas. It is big news to have friends over because most people live pretty far. In MT 50-70 miles is not too far, a nice little jaunt, but here with traffic on weekdays or a Cardinal game traffic jam, 50 miles becomes an hour and 70 an hour or two. Anyway, it worked out well except the other half of Ryan's family could not make it. We had great chats, I ate too much food (and kept eating) and we made fun of B. Padilla for picking a game that required learning how to play instead of a game we could learn through osmosis. Elora P is 3 months younger than Autumn but these two have known each other since they were in our bellies. She was Autumns first little friend, first road trip buddy, first pa jamy jam jam girl and first bath time buddy. It has been so much fun to watch our girls together. Autumn usually tries to bully Elora around ( how does she know she is older) but Elora doesn't take it for long and with out even trying got a few revenge wacks in with a drumstick last night. Autumn was pulling it out of Eloras hand an adorable game of tug of war that became hilarious when E let go. Autumn refused to look at me after the "THWACK" and sat very still for a minute. I think she was saying "oui oui oui, spring broke no clang clang" trying to get her wits about her. She gave E a nasty look and with a blink of an eye they were back at playing with blocks and reading books in their very own language!
It was a great evening! I was so glad that Ryan came out too. He has an amazing personality and a son a bit older than Autumn. He was missing his little man and his wife who is having their second in March! Autumn was intrigued by him. She sat quietly in her chair staring and eating and looking away when he talked to her. She kept an eye on him all night and gave him occasional flirty smiles. By the end of the evening she was ready for a hug and a high five.
Like I said, it was a great evening! We are going to miss some wonderful people here in AZ.
This a.m Dana went golfing and I spent time with the P.'s before their long haul back to Maricopa. It turned out to be a lovely lazy Sunday since there is another excessive heat warning. This basically means be prepared to burn your nose hairs if you go outside and break a sweat while changing dog water. While sitting in our nice cool house, curled up with a fleece blanket, yes we keep it that cool, we realized this is our last Sunday here. Next Sunday at this time Dana will already be in Montana and I will be in the first lag of the road trip. There is a tinge of sadness when I look at pictures of how beautiful my yard was after our parents dressed it up. We were able to keep everything alive for a while, but after two summers most have died and now the yard is bare and awaiting our departure. The house echoes and doesn't have a cozy feeling and I know the last time we lock the door I just might get a lump in my throat. BUT, I shall tap my heels on the threshold and shake it off. A new adventure is coming our way and I can't wait!!!
#7 There are incredible doctors here! Baby/Mom docs and Naturopaths
#8 During the winter water comes out of the tap warm...who doesn't love warm toothpaste? And it's nice and hot in the summer.
