What's in a name

We could not wait for yesterday to get here. It seems when you are doing something you want to do 6a.m is not early and you can't get out the door fast enough! Our ultrasound was scheduled for 7:15 and after the paper work and introductions we were in the dark room by 7:40. The technician asked if she would be telling us the sex today "YES! Please, yes!!" The first picture came up and you almost have to be blind or not want to know that little Goodan was showing his full glory! I looked over at Dana holding Autumn, Autumn waving to the monitor and the woman said "It is very obvious you are having a boy". I couldn't help it, tears were rolling down my cheeks. I didn't care this time. With Autumn I tried to cover them up because I was pretty sure she was a girl anyway and I was thinking "What is there to cry about you big baby!" Well, yesterday I shed a few, Dana said a few, and Autumn said "HI!" It was a wonderful moment. It's a great thing for several reasons, but one is that I don't think we have discussed one girl name. We were dead set, no changing our minds, on Solstice. Then it was Solace. No one liked either of them it's okay for you to not like them either. We liked the fact we couldn't find either one in a baby book or on a list of most populars. For some reason this baby just doesn't feel like a Solace. Last night we talked, with Dana holding beautiful Autumn and have agreed on another name. Dominic Hartura Goodan. You may not like the middle name either and that is fine too. We are not changing the middle name. First name is a keeper but so was Solstice and look how far we've come! Hartura is important to both of us because it is the names of our Mothers Dads put together. I am sure neither Grandpa would like what we have done but may enjoy the attempt to honor them. Mama Jo's Dad is Harold...Lala Julie's Dad is Ventura. So there you have it my friends and loved ones. A friend said to me "Just think of all the explaining he is going to have to do on that middle name". I say all he has to say is "I'm named after my Grandfathers...end of story...(choice word edit here)." Besides, when was the last time someone took the time to ask your middle name and then kept the attention long enough to understand or care why you are named what you are?
