This is a shot from the church picnic we went to right after moving home. It was at Lala and Papa Marks. I chose about 6 pictures to share but am still learning how to work the lap top and got one. It's been raining all night and I love rain. I love the sound, smell and the green when it's over. In the store the other day a woman walked up to me and knew me and Autumn. I felt terrible I didn't know her until she said she was Mamma Jo's neighbor. Rachel made a very good point that I hadn't thought of. She said with all this rain farmers and ranchers are losing their crops. They have no time to dry out and harvest. It put things into perspective for me. I never thought of the farmers. I only thought of how great this rain is for ME after being in the desert for so long and sometimes I've thought "I need to get some rain gear so A and I can still go outside." Everyday is an eye opener it seems.
Autumn is changing so quick that if you blink, or leave her with Grammie for a day you miss something new. I ran errands and met with friends yesterday and when I picked her up she was glad to see me but not quite ready to leave. I sat and visited with Jo which is always a nice decompress and learned that Autumn is now nodding yes. So far she has only done no, even when she meant yes. It is getting easier to understand her talk and her sign language is growing everyday. Most in the family know when she is thirsty or hungry and I've been working on a "poop" sign that may offend but is very comical! We had a play date with with Liz and her daughter Mere at city park the other day and watching the two girls was amazing. They walked around each other like two animals sniffing the scene. In the end they were cordial and hopefully soon they become great friends. I think they will be in the same grade. We've gone on walks with Lala around the neighborhood that becomes a marsh land with wonderful trails, we took Grammie to work in nice drizzle fog, and we've walked in the evening with Daddy. One of our trips home we watched deer rush out of the brush right next to us and then heard stomping behind us, it was a crazy feeling that something was running up behind me. What do I do? Throw the stroller down and lay on top to protect Autumn from inevitable danger in such a shady area...ha! I was on the cat track, when I finally became brave to see what was rushing us I saw a collie running with eyes peeled to its forehead tongue out and the craze look of "I have to get that!!!" It was chasing the deer. So good thing my ninja skills didn't take over and throw Autumn to the ditch in an effort to fight off evil. Once I yelled at the dog and it turned and ran the other way (most likely cursing me for ruining a perfect short cut)I realized, I almost crapped my pants with fear. Ha! So the last leg of our walk I was sweating and panting myself with adrenaline since I knew I almost nearly lost my life!
Dana went to the car auction with his Dad on Wednesday and when he came home he was so pumped and energized it was great to watch! He's loving his job and it shows. He liked Dex but the package deal here is pretty incredible and to see him so happy is another bonus!
Today, Autumn and I will make our way to the library where a woman has story time. My mother put so gently "Autumn is a social person and I hate to break it to you Summer but she needs more than you." Oush. I thought I was the coolest and all she wanted to hang out with!;) So, in an attempt to get her (and myself) out there we will try play dates on Tues. and story time on Friday. Thank God Liz knows the ins and outs and can just tell me instead of looking myself! So far it has been a great week at the D. Goods. To top it off we found a lost package from cousin Jacy filled to the brim with little boy clothes. It's nice to have such generous family that we don't have to buy new things. AND I know a great place to shop in GreatFalls too!!! Free is awesome!
Have a wonderful weekend!
