Autumns first try at the big swing, Daddy nervous and Autumn loved it!
Well we have added to our D. Goodan family! Our neighbors, Bree and Joe, have gone through the death of Joe's mother Etoile (I hope I have spelled that correctly). Once we found out we offered to watch kids, cook meals, or  just be there. Their life has been turned upside down a few times this year. Even living so close we rarely saw each other as our households are packed full with little ones and daily running. One  morning the Z's came by to look at a vehicle Dana brought home. We all stood in the driveway visiting and grinning ear to ear at the little boys investigating each other. Their youngest is 3months older than Dom. We love their humor and it's quite amusing to watch another couple with a boy the age of ours. In the conversation it was mentioned that Joe's parents have a dog Molly. She is 8 and wonderful but they weren't sure what was going to happen to her or who was going to take care of her. Her options for a new home were limited as she is such a large dog and many people already have dogs and not the room for one so big.
My mind stop. I froze in my brain and thought, "we could take her! bring her over this second! who cares if she's huge! we don't even need to meet her just bring her!" I don't think I heard the rest of the conversation. I was busy planning the next family outting with two dogs. I had watched Dana as they talked about her and saw a glimmer of what looked to me as my exact thoughts. It took a couple days for us to bring up Molly. I think one of us said "what would you think of adopting her?" the other "I thought we mentioned that to Bree and Joe". So, the first discussion of life with another started. The girls would have to meet. Meaning Molly and Bean. If they didn't get along the idea would be done. Then we would have to find out if she even liked children. Our rational was that Etoile has grandchildren so of course she did. Then the most important, Mollys family would have to agree to us. I called Bree. It was fair time so we were all running. It is truly amazing in a town so small that you don't really run into each other all the time. The idea was planted and we would wait. Oh I hate waiting. We got the call of all clear let's introduce Molly to us. Dana and the kids had gone to GreatFalls and I had been painting all day. We agreed, we met, and the girls didn't hate each other. She came over that night for a few hours and Autumn hugged her and ran with her. Dominic grabbed her tongue and nothing happened not even a grunt. It was begining to feel more and more like this was meant to be. That night when she left Autumn cried "I need Molly!" (she also cried I need Logan Markus and I need Bean but we heard I need Molly). We waited to see if it was going to pass the Z. family.
On Aug. 8, Miss Molly Moose Ziolkowski became a Goodan! She came over and some of her family came to wish her luck in her new home. You see it was not farewell as they can come see her anytime! The first night she cried and paced and paced and cried. It was heartbreaking. In all the excitement we forgot that she was still grieving her Mom. Of course I started taking pictures and posting them to good ol facebook. Bree sent a message that Etoile met Gemini in Heaven. They had orchestrated this whole idea. Almost like they had interviewed each other. My sweet Gemini. I will never ever forget you and you can never ever be replaced but thank you. I think you and Etoile had the perfect plan!
We love Molly. We love her sweet personality and her excitement for walks and belly time. She is an incredible addition to our family! Bean was slow to love her (she was picked on by Gemini for many years) but now they share shade and take turns staying next to the boy if he is in the yard.
So, the next time you come by, don't mind the panting and the large dog lumbering to you. It is just Miss Molly coming to say hi!

awww...I teared up when you mentioned Gemini. She was a bully to Bean but she was our first grand dog :( Molly is an awfully big dog but she is very sweet and I do feel bad that she has lost her first owner. I loved her mournful howl when I was at your house last week. It was sad but soothing in a weird way. However, We must not drop the ball with Bean as she was just coming into her own after years of 'servitude' with Gem ;) Great blog as usual Summer! Love, MOM
