Life under construction

Our house is getting a face lift with new windows, doors and siding. Is it cheesey to say that it resembles life? I don't care. My blog my cheese. Like June, July has been quite busy. Dana is such a "roll with the punches" kinda guy. I've been so incredibly stressed about the national exam for massage and instead of telling Dana I'm test terrified, my mother pointed out I say in my outside voice "I hate massage and I'm not going to take this stupid test!" His response was "ok". Really after my rising blood pressure, sweat and beady eyes, I get an o.k?! Well I did take it and I did pass and I couldn't be more happy that that enormous hurdle (for me) is OVER!!! Support from friends and family made it possible to still support me after making a 19month course (originally started in MN years ago) a six year adventure. HA!!!! Another example of Mr. Mellow Yellow...I'm growing my hair out. Ugh. My thoughts were if I want Autumn to have long hair how can I encourage her not to play with scissors and chop her locks, that are a whole two inches long, if she sees me with short hair. The outcome is two Goodans with near mullets. One on the light side and one streaked with grey!!!! I told D. I wish my hair would just grow! I can't stand this length. Dana: "would you like extensions until it grows out?" Ever the fixer that guy.
As our windows are still in the unfinished column, our house has become a bit of a maze. We pushed furniture out and away from windows to help the workers and have moved to the basement so that day time naps are not interrupted if one needs to walk through the house and adjust this or cut that or whatever. At first it seemed like it was going to be a little tough to be in a dark cave all day. It has turned out to be quite nice. We spent a couple afternoons at the B. Goodans when Mamma Jo had here sisters in town and naps for the three of us were wonderful.  Now we spend the early morning out in the yard, taking a walk, or going for a drive. I only have one babe on Monday and Wednesday and it works great to have a little alone time with each one of them. It's great help from Mamma Jo. It also seems that our kids sleep longer at night downstairs. The idea to actually move down there has crossed my mind. Just crossed it.
Autumn has a sorta new phrase when we say "I have a treasure for you", "A TREASURE?! FOR ME?" She has also picked up "um, I don't know." "Huh?" and "Nothing" are a few more favorites. Dana is convinced Dominic says "Daddy" and he is probably right, Autumn said Daddy first too. I think Dom might need a few more months to confirm this theory.
This last weekend we had the great pleasure of distracting Papa Mark and Lala while their kitchen was put together by some incredible friends. Thanks to a lot of help from a handful of people their home is coming together nicely! Autumn was thrilled to have visitors, especially when Mother and I got home from a yard sale with piles of 'treasures' for HER! I massaged both my parents and was quite curious that now that I passed this big scary test I still couldn't fix them completely. Some test that was.;) Dominic and Papa Mark got to know each other better and he could check out Mother from his arms. Dominic is too much of a mover, shaker, throw yourself backer for Mom to hang onto. She and Dom are going to have to wait to snuggle just a little longer.
And that is about all our wonderfully verbal Dominic is going to let me get by with.
Happy Tuesday my friends.
